Eucalyptus essential oil has so many wonderful medicinal properties so it's not surprising it is used widely in many over-the-counter products including chest rubs for colds and congestion, cough and cold medicines, sore throat sprays, mouthwashes, inhalers, soaps, rash creams and topical pain relievers, just to name a few. A 2010 study published in the Alternative Medicine Review suggested that, "Eucalyptus oil may have antimicrobial effects against many bacteria...viruses, and fungi." And also immune-stimulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, spasmolytic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties.
