The aroma of our Lemongrass is lemon-like, spicy, and can add a pleasant fragrance to teas and soups. The citral content is very high, up to 85 percent. Citronellal and geraniol are natural components as well.
Surprisingly, lemongrass essential oil is used as aromatherapy in a wide variety of ways: to relieve muscle pain, externally to kill bacteria, ward off insects, and reduce body aches and fevers. The compounds that make up lemongrass essential oil are known to have antifungal, insecticidal, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Lemongrass may prevent the growth of some bacteria and yeast with its antioxidant properties.
Lemongrass Flexuosus grows wild in east India and is cultivated in other areas.
