Hemp seed oil serves as an excellent source of nutrients and has been used internally and topically in Eastern cultures for hundreds of years. Hemp seed oil is packed with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that can help foster overall good health. Hemp seed oil is considered to be one of the most nutritional oils available and is easily digestible in its raw state. It contains less than 10% saturated fats, and 70-80% polyunsaturated fatty acids. This is an unusually high level of the good oils, making Hemp seed oil beneficial for consumption.
Omega fatty acids have been shown to be helpful for dogs, especially those with skin and coat conditions such as dry skin, allergies or excessive shedding! In addition to improving the condition of the skin and fur, hemp seed oil reduces shedding and dandruff, strengthens the immune system it supports good heart health and healthy organ function, and it's anti-inflammatory. Studies have also shown that it has positive effects on brain function.
Hemp seed oil has a slightly nutty flavor and is deep green in color. The green color in hemp seed oil is a result of the high level of chlorophyll which is naturally present in the seeds and is also highly beneficial to dogs. The oil does not contain any detectable Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Hempseed is NOT marijuana.
Dosing depends on your dog's size, about a teaspoon a day for large dogs, 1/2 teaspoon for smaller breeds. You can pour over their food or squirt it into a bowl. Our dogs love it!
